# Get data from a row

1. **Select Excel as your source app** under “New flow” in the “Gears” section. Click “Create.”

2. **Click the red gear** to show the available connections. Choose which one you want to use, or create a new one. Click “Continue.”

GearPlug will check whether the connection functions properly before moving on. If it doesn’t, you won’t be able to continue setting up your Gear.

3. **Choose “Get data from a row”** as your action, as well as the workbook and worksheet you want to use. Click “Continue.”

4. **Create a test record** in your spreadsheet for GearPlug to import. Then, go back to GearPlug and make sure it drew the information correctly. Click “OK.”
