# Get data from a row

1. **Select MariaDB** as your source app under “New flow” in the “Gears” section. Click “Create.”

2. **Pick the connection** you want to use, or create a new one, and click “Continue.”

3. **Choose “Get data row”** as your action, as well as the way you want to sort the data and unique fields. Click “Create.”

4. **Create a test record** in your database for GearPlug to import. Make sure everything works properly and click “OK” to finish the setup.

Empty Fields: Under the imported entry, you’ll find a drop-down menu for “Empty Fields.” Here, you’ll find a list of fields you can import—but weren’t used in your record.
