What are Credits in GearPlug?

A Credit in GearPlug represents an information batch transferred between two apps. In other words, Credits are the cost of sending data from one app to another.

Credits are your Gears’ “energy.” As long as you have Credits, you can use your workflows any time. But, once they’re depleted, your flows won’t transfer more data.

What’s their function?

Credits in GearPlug fulfil several roles:

  • Account for data transfers between apps.

  • Keeping your Gears’ history.

  • Packaging and sending a batch of data from a source to a target.

Simplified, Credits are your data’s transport method.

How are they spent?

A Credit is spent every time a source Plug sends data to a target Plug. If you have a Gear with several target apps, you’ll spend one Credit to send data to each app.

For instance, if you have three target Plugs in your Gear, you’ll spend three Credits every time that Gear triggers—one for each target.

However, the amount of data sent per batch DOESN’T AFFECT the amount of Credits you pay. A batch with 3 data fields costs as much as one with 10. As such, the more information you transfer, the more value you’ll get from your Credits.

Note: A Credit is only spent if the information reaches its destination. If your data doesn’t reach a target app, be it due to errors or filters, that credit won’t be consumed.

How can you get more Credits?

Every subscription tier includes an automatic Credit recharge according to your account’s limit. Thus, you don’t have to worry about doing it manually.

The Credit limit depends on your plan’s size, which adjusts to different business types. Then, you add your plan’s additional benefits. The free plan always offers 100 monthly Credits, which will let you test GearPlug’s features.

Note: Credits don’t add up, so you can’t have more Credits than your account’s limit. For instance, if your plan offers 700 monthly Credits, you’ll always get up to 700 Credits, regardless of whether you have 500 or 50 Credits left.
